The quaint coastal town of New Haven had always been a place of quiet charm and unassuming beauty. Its white-washed cottages lined the cobbled streets, and the salty sea breeze carried the scent of the Atlantic. But beneath this tranquil facade, the whispers of the abyss had long lingered, a testament to the town's ancient and dark past.

Ezra Whitmore, a young and ambitious scholar, had recently moved to New Haven to pursue his research into the works of the enigmatic H.P. Lovecraft. It was there, in the dimly lit confines of the local library, that he stumbled upon an old, leather-bound manuscript. Its title, "The Red Dragon's Riddle," intrigued him, and he decided to delve deeper into its mysterious contents.

As he pored over the pages, Ezra was struck by the strange and arcane symbols etched into the text. The manuscript spoke of an ancient cult, one that worshipped the primordial being Cthulhu, the Great Old One, slumbering at the bottom of the ocean. The cult had been long thought extinct, but the manuscript hinted at its revival, a warning of impending doom.
